A bit of last minute packing

On the road from the airport to Belize
City

Belize City - the swing bridge.

The Mayan site of Altun Ha which was probably first established
2,000 years ago
as a trading centre. The tallest structure, the Temple of the
Sun, rises 60ft above
the plaza floor. The jade head of the Mayan Sun God Kinich Ahau
was discovered
here and is one of Belize's most teasured artifacts.

Andie at the foot of the pyramid steps.

At Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary where we spotted hundreds of
birds, too
numerous to name, including the rare Jabiru Stork which is the
largest flying bird in
this hemisphere with a wingspan of up to 12 feet.

On the road and we pass hundreds of trucks laden with sugar cane,
queuing up
at the suger refinery. Cane is a major crop and the local rum
is made from it.

Walking through the jungle.

At Lamanai, and a well earned rest on the climb
up to the top of the pyramid.

View from the top of the pyramid.
