Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust has been
registered with the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
For legal reasons the Trust has been registered as Wycombe Wanderers
Supporters Society Ltd. but will be known as Wycombe Wanderers
Supporters Trust.
The society's register number is 29795R.
A formal launch meeting was held on Monday 23rd August 2004 in
the Keen Lounge at Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.
A unanimous vote of those attending voted to create a Steering
Committee to take the Supporters Trust forward to its first AGM
in 2005.
There was a presentation that explained
the background to the launch meeting including what had been achieved
since the Open Meeting on 19th April 2004. Jacqui Forster representing
Supporters Direct spoke about the contribution made by supporters
trusts at a number of clubs and Dave Peters, Sports Editor of
the Bucks Free Press, spoke about the supporters trust at his
home town club of Exeter City. Members of the Working Party described
the decisions and progress made to date and outlined the next
steps. This was followed by a question and answer session and
a number of points of confusion were addressed.
The following motion was formally placed before the meeting: "that
a Steering Committee is created to guide the Wycombe Wanderers
Supporters Trust to an AGM in the first six months of 2005 and
that the current Working Party is mandated to form this Steering
Committee.
The voting was: For 27 Against nil Abstentions nil Total 27. Those
voting for being 100% of the total.
The Working Party will now work on the tasks
associated with moving the Suppporters Trust forward to its first
AGM in 2005.
These tasks include:
- Raising the Trust's profile and increasing its membership;
- Establishing robust membership and accounting records;
- Issuing a membership share to each member;
- Co-opting members onto the board of the Trust;
- Appointing auditors;
- Establishing a date for and organising am AGM;
- Deciding on an election process for Officers of the Trust as
part of the AGM process;
- Organising a Newsletter and other ways of communicating with
the membership and community at large;
- Fundraising;
- Acquire shares in Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc;
- Deciding on a procedure to appoint a director to the board of
Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc (subject to raising the necessary
money to buy 100,000 shares over two years;
- Liaise with the Football Club on behalf of the members.
There is clearly a lot to be done.
