An invitation to join the Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust
Dear Fellow Supporter
On Thursday 29th July 2004, an historic decision was made when the Members of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club Limited voted to change the constitution to allow a wider shareholding and outside investment to come into the Club. Irrespective of our personal views on the merits or otherwise of the changes, it is necessary to go forward in a positive and collective manner in order to ensure that the traditional values and heritage of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club continue to be upheld.
Unless you are a shareholder in the new Public Limited Company that will control Wycombe Wanderers then you will not be able to vote on certain key decisions and will not have direct representation on the board. By joining the Supporters Trust you will be able to vote for a Supporters Director to sit on the Board of Wycombe Wanderers Foot ball Club to represent your interest.
The Supporters Trust is a separate entity from the Founders Trust and is being created to reflect the views and concerns of a broad group including Members, all supporters and the wider community as a whole. Provision has been made for a director to be nominated to the board of the Football Club by the Supporters Trust. In order for this to happen, however, we need to buy 100,000 shares in the new company. You are urged to join the Supporters Trust so that you can exert a positive influence on the affairs of the Football Club.
The Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust is being launched with the following goals, which we believe embrace the key traditional values and heritage of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club:
i. to strengthen the bonds between the Club
and the community which it serves and to represent the interests
of the community in the running of the Club;
ii. to benefit present and future members of the community served
by the Club by promoting encouraging and furthering the game of
football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus
for community involvement;
iii. to further the development of the game of football nationally
and internationally and the upholding of its rules;
iv. to encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests
of its supporters and the community it serves in its decisions;
v. to encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation
on the board of any company owning or controlling the Club and
ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic elections to the board;
vi. to promote, develop and respect the rights of members of the
community served by the Club and people dealing with the Society
as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European
Union, having regard in particular to the need to provide information
to members and conduct the affairs of the Society in accessible
and appropriate ways.
We must preserve the heritage, history and values of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club. We need your help and active involvement in the Supporters Trust. We need to start the ball rolling NOW. Please join us by completing the membership application and standing order forms.
Yours sincerely
Keith Blagbrough
Secretary to the Working Party, Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust
