The Football Supporters' Federation has issued a press statement stating that further to negotiations between supporters of both AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons, MK Dons have agreed to return Wimbledon trophies to Merton and sanction amendments to football statistics such that the playing record of MK Dons only refers to the period since their first Football League fixture was fulfilled against Barnsley on August 7, 2004 - see link below for the full text of the press statement.
The press statement includes the following
comments from Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters'
Federation:
"We never want to see another club uprooted and moved in
this manner, and returning the Wimbledon cups, medals and general
memorabilia to Merton, the community from which they were won,
is certainly the right thing to."
"Meanwhile, all parties involved in these successful negotiations have agreed that, in future, reference must only be made to MK Dons in relation to fixtures fulfilled since their official formation in 2004."
"I should also like to confirm that,
with immediate effect MK Dons supporters will now be admitted
to the FSF with immediate effect and our calls for fans to boycott
the club will also cease forthwith."
The Board of Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust firmly believes
in the principles of community-based football clubs, recognising
the important origins and community role of clubs such as Wycombe
Wanderers and endorses the comments by Mr. Clarke. The Supporters
Trust believes that the franchising of clubs is to be resisted
and supports any measures that prevent this from occurring in
the future.
