Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust has purchased 100,000 shares in Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc in a partly paid form and this investment enables the Supporters Trust to have a representative appointed to the board of directors of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc.
The £50,000 required for the purchase of the 100,000 partly paid shares at 50p each has been raised through a combination of membership fees, donations and an interest free loan. The balance of £50,000 will need to be paid in 12 months time.
Having reached this goal, the Supporters Trust is seeking additional members in order to expand the number of supporters that it represents and the Trust will continue with fund raising activities to raise the necessary balance to purchase the shares outright. Membership is open to all supporters of Wycombe Wanderers over 16 years of age.
At a forthcoming AGM, members of the Supporters Trust will be invited to elect a board of directors to manage the Trust and also to appoint one of these directors to take up the role of director on the board of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc. Nominations for the board of directors of the Trust will be invited from the Trust membership as a whole. Pending the elections, the Trust will appoint a representative from its existing board to represent the Trust and its members on the board of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc on an interim basis.
Commenting on the announcement, Francis Glenister, Chairman of Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust, said "I am very pleased that we have been able to fund the share purchase required to gain additional supporter involvement at board level. We have come a very long way since our launch less than six months ago and raising the funds is the result of the combined efforts of many people. On behalf of the Supporters Trust and the fans that we represent, I say thank you to everyone involved. I hope that many more fans will join the Trust, including all who have delayed whilst waiting to see if we would be successful in achieving the goal of the required share purchase. We are focussed on taking the Trust forward including holding an AGM, electing a member to represent the Trust on the board of the PLC and meeting the next financial target of raising the £50,000 needed to complete the purchase of the shares outright."
On behalf of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club plc the Chairman, Ivor Beeks, said "We look forward to working with a member of the Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust as a Director of the plc Board. This is a significant step forward in the change of our constitution and the Supporters Trust is to be congratulated on raising the first half of the funds required. The Board welcome this development and fully support the initiative to encourage fans to contribute to the final stage required in twelve months time."
